Cost Accountant

$30-35 /hour (depending on experience)
We are seeking a Cost Accountant for a new position in the Peterborough area.
The Cost Accountant, reporting to the Controller, manages production-related costs, ensures accurate financial reporting, and provides insights to improve cost efficiency. This role involves collaboration with various departments, including production, inventory, and purchasing teams.
Cost Accountant Duties:
- Accounts: Provide financial analysis, prepare draft financial statements, post monthly journals, reconcile accounts (e.g., taxes, fixed assets, inter-company), and assist with monthly management accounts.
- Bank: Perform daily bank reconciliations, maintain cash flow spreadsheets, and complete cash/cheque deposits.
- Sales Ledger: Process customer payments, manage debtor control, handle credit notes, submit EC Sales and Intrastat to HMRC, and follow up on customer statements and discrepancies.
- Purchase Ledger: Process supplier invoices and credit notes, reconcile supplier statements, manage payment runs, maintain filing systems, assist with month-end accruals, and support special projects.
Cost Accountant Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with progress toward CPA designation.
- 3-5 years of experience in management or cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), ERP systems (Epicor), and email/internet functions.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
